Kunekune pig

About KuneKune Pigs

KuneKune pigs are a small breed originating from New Zealand.  Their name means fat and round and come in colours ranging from black and white to ginger.  Their short and upturned snouts make them suitable grazers and less prone to rooting found in other breeds.  KuneKunes are known for having 2 wattles (much like goats) found under their chin. Their laidback and social nature made them the perfect option for our small homestead.

In 2017 we purchased our first breading pair of Kunekune pigs.  It took just over one year before they were ready to breed, and we now (2019)have a total of 28, 5 sows, 1 boar and the rest are piglets.  We raise them out on our pasture and just like the sheep, we do not use any unnecessary antibiotics and no hormones.  If you are interested in raising some of these on your own farm, find out more below, or contact us for full details.

Come 2020 market season, we will be adding pork to our list of products for sale..
